I really hope these efforts will get the much needed attention from everyone involved in making those decisions that effect individual lives.
Sadly for such a big country producing so many techies there is not even a single University program in HCI. Apart from the IIT’s and the NID, I don’t think there are any programs at the graduate level that produce much needed professionals.
How many people can manage to get in to NID and IIT? All of a sudden there is a demand for Usability experts in India, where are they going to get these people from? Will it be like the web design Industry? Teach a couple of software’s or tools and claim that they can design? Or even worse, design to everyone’s fancy.

Don’t know if there is even a single site, Government or otherwise in India that is built on standards. Semantically correct which is accessible.

I really think its time we have more professionals getting involved in knowledge sharing, mentoring and reaching out to the communities. There is no sort term solution but I am sure in the days to come things will change.
